Lars Olson has come up with a rather simple yet ingenious solution to merging two office items into one, with an external flash drive multi-outlet station and a [writing utensil receptacle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dumpstuder-pencil-holders). Despite technology's progress, one still has a regular need for a ballpoint pen. To keep your [cords and cables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cords) from knocking over that highlighter holder, the designer has given the vessel a steady base that accommodates several thumbdrives and plugs directly into your computer. The canisters thus take on a techie character, but a bit of colorful flair and an artsy asymmetrical shape make the USB Hub and Pencil Cup a delightful adornment for your desk. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Simplifying Workspaces:** The USB Hub and Pencil Cup merges multiple office items into one, simplifying and decluttering workspaces. - **Combining Functionality:** The USB Hub and Pencil Cup combines a flash drive multi-outlet station with a writing utensil receptacle, offering dual functionality in a single product. - **Tech-infused Office Accessories:** The USB Hub and Pencil Cup incorporates technology with colorful flair, providing a techie character to office accessories. ### Where This Applies - **Office Supplies:** The USB Hub and Pencil Cup disrupts the traditional office supply market by offering a combined solution for organization and functionality. - **Technology Accessories:** The USB Hub and Pencil Cup presents a disruptive innovation opportunity by merging USB hub functionality with a pencil cup, creating a unique tech-infused accessory for tech-savvy professionals. - **Design and Decor:** The USB Hub and Pencil Cup disrupts the design and decor industry by introducing an artsy, asymmetrical shape and colorful flair to office accessories, making them delightful adornments for desks. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Customizable Desk Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/customizable-desk-organizers.md) - [All-in-One Desk Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cord-1.md) - [Flexible Connectivity Workstation Hubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-hub.md) - [Illuminating Workstation Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hexcal-studio.md) - [Minimalist Tech-Friendly Valet Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holme-hadfield-the-hub.md) - [Spaceship-Inspired USB Hubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/docking-station-usb-hub.md) - [Desk Organizer Lamp Hybrids](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/engrid-desk-lamp.md) - [Whiteboard Workstation Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deskboard-buddy.md) - [Modern Aluminum USB Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bitlounge.md)
