The fish tank, designed by [Benedetto Bufalino](http://benedetto.new.fr), was installed inside a phone booth in Lyon, France. It's fascinating by day, but at night when darkness sets it, the obscurity it adds to the streets is surreal. It illuminates to cast a brilliant blue aura and the [live fish swimming inside](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pet-jellyfish) are a true visual delight. "With the advent of the mobile telephone, [telephone booths lie unused](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-of-gills). We rediscover this glass cage transformed into an aquarium, full of exotically coloured fish; an invitation to escape and travel," the designer said. The **[Fishtank Phone Booth](http://benedetto.new.fr)** was created as part of the Fête des lumières or [Lyon Light Festival](http://www.lumieres.lyon.fr/lumieres/sections/en) which is an annual celebration to honour Mary, the mother of Jesus, on December 8th. "This uniquely Lyonnaise tradition dictates that every house place candles along the outsides of all the windows to produce a spectacular effect throughout the streets. The festival, which includes other activities based on light, usually lasts 4 days, with the peak of activity occurring on the 8th," according to [Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%AAte_des_Lumi%C3%A8res). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 86% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Installation Art:** The use of installation art in urban public spaces to create communal experiences for consumers seeking unique moments in their daily lives. - **Experiential Marketing:** The use of immersive and interactive marketing tactics that engage consumers in a unique and memorable way, such as transforming a phone booth into an aquarium. - **Sustainability:** The incorporation of eco-friendly and sustainable practices into public art installations, such as using recycled materials to create an urban aquarium. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** The use of innovative design concepts and materials in public art installations to create unique and memorable experiences for consumers. - **Marketing and Advertising:** The use of immersive and interactive marketing tactics to engage consumers and create emotional connections with brands. - **Environmental Sustainability:** The incorporation of sustainable practices and materials in public art installations as a means of promoting environmental awareness and promoting sustainable practices. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Fish Tank-Inspired Japanese Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nao-iwanari.md) - [Cannery-Inspired Phone Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phone-boxes.md) - [Revamped Modern Phone Booths](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phone-booth-1.md) - [Rustic Ruin-Inspired Aquariums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-sea-of-cortez-research-center.md) - [Mindful Digital Aquariums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reef-1.md) - [Distorted Furniture Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/first-kiss-at-last-light.md) - [Eye-Tracking Informational Aquariums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-aquarium.md) - [Mesmerizing Fluid Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flow-fountain.md) - [Iridescent Garden Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handpainted-school-of-fish-glass-bird-bath.md)
