# Inverted Art Installations The Upside-Down Dome in Belgium is an Enchanting Display of Symbolism By Amanda Chang | Published 2010-10-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/upside-down-dome References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/34824/) & [muuuz](http://www.muuuz.com/2010/09/30/the-upside-dome-de-gijs-van-vaerenbergh/) The Upside-Down Dome found in Belgium’s St. Michael Church is certainly not the typical form of artwork that would be found in such a sacred location. This modern piece of artwork comprised of [hanging steel chains](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duo-1) was made to symbolize the [missing dome](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lumisphere-experience) that was to be part of this [Baroque infrastructure](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-barca). Designed by architects Pieterjan Gijs and Arnout Van Vaerenbergh, the Upside-Down Dome will be on display from September 4, 2010 to October 31, 2010.
