# Helicopter Toy Air Circulators Raffaele Iannello's Upside Down Ceiling Fan is Boyishly Playful By Meghan Young | Published 2012-06-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/upside-down-ceiling-fan References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2012/06/03/upside-down-helicopter-is-a-ceiling-fan) & [raffaeleiannello](http://www.raffaeleiannello.com/en/industrial/upside-down) At first, the Upside Down Ceiling Fan looks more like a mischievous kid's prank on his parents. The title of the fan refers to the upside down state of the legendary Hughes/MD 500 complete with a helipad, which acts as the base for the fan, allowing the propellers to cleverly become the fan's blades. Created by Catania-born, Milan-based industrial designer Raffaele Iannello, who gifted the world with the [Voodoo Knife Holder](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/voodoo-knife-holder-by-viceversa), the Upside Down Ceiling Fan pays tribute to the out-of-production model. Made out of fiberglass with carbon fiber blades and an aluminum internal structure, it is equipped with a three speed motor that is remote controllable. The Upside Down Ceiling Fan is available in one colorway: shiny black with a silver base. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Car Wash-Inspired Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dervish-lamp-philippe-malouin.md) - [Ceiling Fan-Inspired Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yoyo-furniture.md) - [Galactic Ceiling Fan](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brisa-ceiling-fan.md) - [Roof-Mounted Purifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-purifier-ceiling-fan.md) - [Contemporary Ceiling Air Coolers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haiku-fan.md) - [Gently Sweeping Fans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loft-wing-ceiling-fan.md) - [Fans with Retractable Blades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fan-air-shadow.md) - [Designs Inpired by Trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seed-pod-inspired-cooling-devices-sycamore-blade-ceiling-fan.md) - [Curvaceous Room-Coolers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ribbon-ceiling-fan.md)
