# Urban Forest Simulators Unlimited Urban Woods Brings the Wilderness Back to the Concrete Jungle By Michael Hines | Published 2010-07-05 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unlimited-urban-woods References: [webecoist](http://webecoist.com/2010/07/02/forest-for-the-trees-an-endless-forest-in-the-city/) & [dusarchitects](http://dusarchitects.com/projecten.php?taal=english) DUS Architects' 'Unlimited Urban Woods' is a [public art installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fourth-wall) designed to bring city folk closer to nature. This unassuming white box secretly houses a forest that never ends! Okay, so the Unlimited Urban Woods isn't actually some magical forest in a white box. It is actually [a single tree](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-great-tree) and [a lot of mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reflecting-diverseness). The mirrors give the appearance that visitors are in a never-ending forest. This installation was recently in Amsterdam, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that it makes its way across the pond one day. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 76% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Virtual Forest Experiences:** Creating virtual environments that simulate being in a forest, bringing the experience of nature to urban spaces. - **Biophilic Design:** Incorporating natural elements into urban architecture and environments to improve well-being and create a sense of connection to nature. - **Augmented Reality in Art Installations:** Utilizing AR technology to create immersive and interactive art experiences that challenge traditional perceptions of reality. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Tourism:** Integrating nature-themed art installations into urban spaces to attract tourists and provide cultural experiences. - **Architecture and Urban Planning:** Incorporating biophilic design principles in building and city planning to improve residents' quality of life and well-being. - **Technology and Entertainment:** Using augmented reality technology in art installations to redefine the boundaries of art and provide unique immersive experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mangrove Forest-Inspired Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/once-upon-a-forest.md) - [Urban Natural Expansive Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/office-national-des-forts.md) - [Artful Elevated Timber Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/secret-camp.md) - [Sculptural Mall Dreamscape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unbounded-sanctuary.md) - [Nature-Reconnecting Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highwood-installation.md) - [Nature-Connecting Design Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vert-installation.md) - [Climate-Controlled Chamber Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spruce-time.md) - [Nature-Inspired Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humannature-1.md) - [Mirrored Panel Tropical Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frame-garden.md)
