# Woven Wax Tables These Unique Table Designs Resemble Beeswax Candles By M | Published 2014-07-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unique-table-designs References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2014/07/25/katharina-gross-waxploration-wax-tables-candle-making/) & [katharinagrossdesign](http://www.katharinagrossdesign.com/) Designer Katharina Gross creates these beautiful wax tables after custom-creating her very own molten wax mixture. The wax creates these endearing stalactite dripping patterns that resemble the hexagonal aesthetic of a beehive. Gross' furniture pieces are made from a combination of her original wax mixture coupled with marble dust. This way her decor pieces retain the look of wax while also being strong and functional. The tables are constructed from perforated pieces of brass boxes that are dipped into the wax -- a process that is extremely similar to creating candles. Several of the boxes are stacked while still wet and hardened to create a customized wax table that is stylish with a clear antiquated look. These tables would look great in any modern decor setting. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 33% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Customizable Furniture:** Using a unique wax mixture, designers can create custom furniture pieces with a distinct aesthetic. - **Hexagonal Design:** The hexagonal pattern inspired by beehives offers an innovative and visually appealing design element for various products. - **Combining Materials:** The combination of wax and marble dust opens up opportunities to create furniture that is both visually striking and sturdy. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Incorporating wax as a material in furniture design can disrupt the industry and offer unique, customizable pieces to consumers. - **Home Decor:** The hexagonal wax table design can spark innovation in the home decor industry, providing a fresh and timeless aesthetic. - **Art and Sculpture:** Artists and sculptors can explore the use of wax as a medium to create unconventional and captivating works of art. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tree-Based Material Products](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abney-effect.md) - [Beeswax Sculptural Candles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/greentree.md) - [Fabric-Like Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tablecloth-side-table.md) - [Modular Wax Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-soft-solids.md) - [Structural Blown Glass Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lokum-collection.md) - [Wavy Sculptural Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables.md) - [Structurally Artful Table Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vakr.md) - [Wine-Catered Vibrant Artful Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wine-table.md) - [Adorable Bee-Inspired Candlesticks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beeinspired-candlesticks.md)
