# Destruction Scrap Sculptures Scott Carter Uses the Gallery Walls to Create His Unique Media Art By Kyle Towers | Published 2013-01-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unique-media-art References: [thisiscolossal](http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2013/01/scott-carters-sculptural-medium-deconstructed-gallery-walls/) & [scottacarter](http://www.scottacarter.com/) Scott Carter uses the scraps from the walls which are meant to enclose his finished piece for his unique media art. The process begins by planning out how to create each work on the computer and then calculating the destruction process. Afterwards, pieces of drywall and wood that are removed from the walls are used to create [sculptures and furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/basket-sculptures). One of the most appealing parts of Scott’s works is the wonderful contrast created between the art form and the deconstructed wall. It not only gives a look into the process, but is also very appealing to the eyes. Carter currently has his unique media art showcased at the Beers.[Lambert Gallery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/net-zero-ready-home) and will remain there until January 26th (unless the gallery runs out of wall). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.9/10 - Popularity: 84% | Activity: 55% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Sustainable Art:** Exploring the use of recycled materials in art to create unique and eco-friendly sculptures. - **Deconstruction Art:** Using the process of deconstructing walls to create visually striking sculptures and furniture. - **Process-minded Art:** Highlighting the artistic process and incorporating it as an integral part of the final artwork. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Opportunities for artists and designers to embrace sustainable practices and create innovative artworks. - **Interior Design:** Exploring the integration of deconstruction art in interior design, offering unique and visually appealing pieces. - **Gallery and Exhibition:** Showcasing process-minded art in galleries and exhibitions, providing an immersive experience for viewers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Broken-Aesthetic Sculpture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brokenaesthetic-sculpture-collection.md) - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md) - [Upcycled Object Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nendo-and-daniel-arsham.md) - [Repurposed Studio Scrap Pottery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daon-pottery.md) - [Textured Cast Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-scad.md) - [Whimsical Sculptural Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/city-block-series.md) - [Structured Art Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flowchart.md) - [Raw Metal Design Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nick-valentijn.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md)
