# Shape-Adapting Bookshelves This Unique Bookshelf by Hafriko Flexes to the Shape of Your Books By Sarah Dos Santos | Published 2013-11-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unique-bookshelf References: [designer-daily](http://www.designer-daily.com/chuck-a-flexible-bookshelf-34804/) & [cargocollective](http://cargocollective.com/hafriko/Chuck) Chuck, a unique bookshelf designed by Hafriko, changes its shape when you put books in it. Without any books inside it, it looks like a thin line across the wall. Every book can fit into a sheet of the shelf, creating a mound-like shape. The height of each book makes each sheet carry a smooth and unique shape. This bookshelf is truly creatively designed. The [flexible sheets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-shelf) are wide enough to hold your books standing up or lying down, so even if you have a [vast collection of books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-x-moebe-book-stand), each of them will have a space. When filled, the bookshelf looks very cool, making it a stand-alone piece that will accentuate your home decor. The unique bookshelf by Hafriko sits neatly on the wall, keeping your books beautifully and creatively displayed and easily accessible. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Shape-adapting Furniture:** Designing furniture that can adjust its shape based on the items placed on it presents opportunities for customizable and space-saving solutions. - **Flexible Storage Solutions:** Creating storage units that can adapt and expand according to the contents inside them opens up possibilities for efficient and versatile organization systems. - **Innovative Home Decor:** Developing unique and visually striking home decor pieces that can function as both functional furniture and decorative accents offers opportunities for creative interior design solutions. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers in the furniture industry can explore incorporating shape-adapting features into their product lines to cater to customers' evolving needs. - **Interior Design:** Interior design professionals can leverage flexible storage solutions to optimize space utilization and create dynamic and visually appealing living spaces. - **Home Decor Retail:** Retailers specializing in home decor can curate and market innovative furniture pieces like shape-adapting bookshelves to cater to design-conscious consumers seeking unique and functional products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Dynamic Geometric Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cheft.md) - [Room-Dividing Bookshelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frquence-shelf.md) - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md) - [Book-Shaped Transparent Bookmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transparent-bookmark.md) - [Expandable Bookcase Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burrow-index-bookcase.md) - [Video Game-Like Bookcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetris-bookcase.md) - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md)
