# Book-Dangling Shelves OldAndCold Creates Unique Book Shelving for Those Who Love to Hang Out By Megan Facciuolo | Published 2014-06-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unique-book-shelving References: [ohgizmo](http://www.ohgizmo.com/2014/06/18/let-books-hanged/) & [etsy](https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/111684001/custom-made-wooden-book-rack-in-oak-the?ref=shop_home_active_3&ga_search_query=book%20rack) If you are looking for [unique book shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledge-shelf) to display your collection in a less boring manner, try looking at what the [Etsy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-wall-hanger) shop OldAndCold has to offer. The creative shelves aren't your typical case-like structures; they dangle books instead of encasing them. Aptly dubbed Hanging Book Racks, the shelves were created by the Etsy owners to allow people to get rid of their [hefty shelving units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qurv) and create more space, while still providing a stunning aesthetic. Depending on the size of the shelf that you order, you can hang approximately 12 books from its coinciding pins. And you don't have to worry about your books being damaged because they hang from wax-cottoned string and rest on small wooden plates. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.7/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 69% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Unique Book Shelving:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop customizable book shelving designs that incorporate unique hanging mechanisms to create visually appealing displays. - **Space-saving Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design innovative furniture solutions that maximize living space by utilizing unconventional hanging or suspended features. - **Aesthetic Storage Solutions:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore creative storage solutions that prioritize aesthetic appeal while providing functional organization for various items. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate book-dangling elements into furniture manufacturing processes to offer unique and space-saving storage options in the market. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate hanging book shelving designs into interior design projects to offer clients visually striking and space-efficient storage solutions. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Expand product offerings in the home decor industry by creating and marketing aesthetically pleasing storage solutions that deviate from conventional designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Sliding Wintery Landscape Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manhwabang-bookshelf.md) - [Toy Block-Inspired Wooden Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rotating-picture-book.md) - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md) - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [Personality-Enhancing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ordo-book.md) - [Room-Dividing Bookshelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frquence-shelf.md)
