Such items have been long sculpted to take [smooth and symmetrical shapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-vase), then these Union Suiza Vases appear to reinvent the ideal composition. Martin Azua designed his silver vases with a hard metallic material, celebrated for its burnished surfaces, and so molded to take multifaceted forms. If you look closely, you will see that there is a rationality to the shape of each plane, repeated uniformly to enclose the long narrow space inside. To add an extra dimension to the Union Suiza Vases, their creator constructed an [intricate framework of wooden sticks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/basket-sculpture), allowing the heavy hollow jewels to seem suspended in place. These have been assembled to take more haphazard arrangements that enable the amphoras to be set down on odd angles. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 57% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Multifaceted Vases:** The Union Suiza Vases challenge traditional vase composition by taking on multifaceted forms, presenting an opportunity for designers to experiment with unconventional designs. - **Intricate Frameworks:** The wooden stick framework of the Union Suiza Vases provides an opportunity for designers to explore innovative ways of suspending objects in place. - **Abstract Functionality:** The Union Suiza Vases showcase the combination of functionality and abstract design, sparking opportunities for designers to create functional items that double as art pieces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** The Union Suiza Vases offer a fresh take on traditional home decor items, opening up avenues for manufacturers to create similar products with unconventional designs. - **Art:** The Union Suiza Vases blur the line between art and functionality, presenting opportunities for artists to create functional items that challenge traditional design conventions. - **Furniture:** The Union Suiza Vases' wooden stick framework provides inspiration for furniture designers to explore innovative ways of suspending and displaying objects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimalist Illusory Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vaso-gota-vase.md) - [Floating Stem Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lotus-effect-vase.md) - [Stackable Clay Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/torre-vases.md) - [Milled Three-Dimensional Puzzle Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceramic-bodies.md) - [Modern Totem-Like Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/totemlike-vases.md) - [Copper Tubular Minimal Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hiroyuki-yuasa.md) - [Artful Dynamic Kinetic Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kinetic-vases.md) - [Colorful Geometric Ceramic Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barva-vases.md) - [Sculptural Glass Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/navazi.md)
