# Pop Culture Lavatory Art Cakeonmyface's The Big Lebowski Mural Uses an Unconventional Canvas By Kyle Towers | Published 2013-04-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unconventional-canvas References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2013/03/31/iThe-Big-Lebowski-Toilet-Seat/) & [cakeonmyface.deviantart](http://cakeonmyface.deviantart.com/) This artistic tribute to The Big Lebowski uses quite the [unconventional canvas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balloon-dog). It just goes to show that anything can be turned into art -- even a toilet. The toilet seat is ideal for any man cave or [movie fanatic's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightup-delorean-popcorn) washroom. It uses fantastic imagery and quotes made popular in the movie. And you can't go wrong with The Dude hanging on the top lid of the john. I would've expected the deviantART user Cakeonmyface to use a bowling ball or alley for her unconventional medium, but sure -- a toilet seat works. It definitely spices up the one spot that could use a little more style. Most of us spend a good amount of alone time on toilets, so why not have them personalized? ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Toilet Seat Art:** This trend of turning toilet seats into art presents an opportunity for creative artists to disrupt the world of interior design and personalize bathrooms. - **Pop Culture Home Decor:** This trend of incorporating pop culture references into home decor provides an opportunity for designers and retailers to create unique and eye-catching products that appeal to fans of movies, TV shows, and other forms of popular media. - **Unconventional Art Mediums:** The growing popularity of using unconventional mediums like toilet seats for artistic expression opens up new possibilities for artists to challenge traditional notions of what can be considered art. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** The trend of personalized toilet seat art creates a disruptive innovation opportunity for interior designers to offer unique and customized bathroom design solutions. - **Home Decor Retail:** The trend of incorporating pop culture into home decor provides a potential disruption opportunity for retailers to cater to a niche market of pop culture enthusiasts and collectors looking for unique and personalized items for their homes. - **Art and Design:** The trend of using unconventional mediums in art offers a disruptive innovation opportunity for artists to push boundaries, challenge norms, and create truly unique and distinct pieces that stand out in the art world. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Film-Inspired Bowling Alleys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eastside-bowl.md) - [Artful Elevated Litter Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doggy-bathroom-1.md) - [Illuminated Public Artful Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hiroo-east-park.md) - [Quirky Toilet Brushes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stylish-toilet-brush.md) - [Light-Filled Public Restrooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vivid-toilet-interior.md) - [Brutalist Smart Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/formation-02.md) - [Surrealist Beauty Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toiletpaper-magazine.md) - [Aesthetic Bathroom Plungers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-plunger.md) - [Sci-Fi-Themed Metallic Potty Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-portal.md)
