# Simplistic Cornered Lighting The Ugol Table Lamp by Yaroslav Misonzhnikov Leans into the Table By Meghan Young | Published 2013-05-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ugol-table-lamp References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2013/04/30/ugol-by-yaroslav-misonzhnikov/) & [misonzhnikov](http://www.misonzhnikov.com/portfolio/projects/ugol.html) The Ugol Table Lamp is an unorthodox light fixture that looks anything but what it really is, at least when it is not turned on. A simple long stick with a rectangular handle on one end, some may see a wooden sword, others a hollow sign holder. In reality, the 'handle' of the Ugol Table Lamp is meant to connect with the corner of a table to keep it upright. Designed by [Saint Petersburg](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saint-laurent-rive-droite-1) designer Yaroslav Misonzhnikov, the Ugol Table Lamp essentially interacts with the surface it illuminates. Not only does it forego a traditional base, the stand becomes the light fixture itself. Lined with LEDs, its angle is dependant on the thickness of the tabletop. Beautiful and [minimalist](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delite-20), it will be a great conversation piece. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist Lighting:** The Ugol Table Lamp demonstrates the trend of minimalist lighting by eliminating traditional bases and using the table surface as the light fixture. - **Interactive Design:** The interactive design of the Ugol Table Lamp showcases the trend of integrating functionality with aesthetics, creating a unique user experience. - **Innovative Illumination:** The Ugol Table Lamp exemplifies the trend of innovative illumination by using LEDs and leveraging the thickness of the tabletop to adjust its angle and intensity of light. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** The Ugol Table Lamp presents an opportunity for furniture designers to create lighting fixtures that blend seamlessly with the overall design of the furniture piece. - **Interior Design:** The minimalist and interactive nature of the Ugol Table Lamp opens up new possibilities for interior designers to experiment with unique light sources that enhance the ambiance of a space. - **Lighting Technology:** The innovative lighting technique showcased by the Ugol Table Lamp prompts the lighting technology industry to explore new ways of integrating LED lights with different surfaces to offer customizable lighting solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Portable Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grab-glow.md) - [Modernized Antique-Style Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/odina-table-lamp.md) - [Geometric Nostalgic Night Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handmaid-table-lamp.md) - [Dynamic Bookend Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stair-table.md) - [Award-Winning Colorful Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/u-table-lamp.md) - [Quirky Common Item Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-lamp-lighter.md) - [Conical Multifunctional Lamp Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-light.md) - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Minimalist Mysterious Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/auge-light-mini.md)
