This mailbox comes equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity and a special [companion smartphone app](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/informed-delivery1). It syncs up with your Gmail, Hotmail or [Yahoo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/email-management) email in order to provide tracking numbers from order receipts. When a delivery person arrives with a package, they scan the barcode on the tracking number -- this is done using a 5-megapixel autofocus camera and 4-inch touchscreen that is built into the mailbox. This smart mailbox makes use of technology that has been around for some time now in order to bring the simple process of collecting packages well and truly into the 21st century. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Connected Smart Mailboxes:** The trend of integrating mailboxes with Wi-Fi and companion apps to track package deliveries and ensure security. - **Barcode Scanning Mailboxes:** The trend of adding barcode scanners to mailboxes for seamless package delivery. - **Smart Home Delivery Systems:** The trend of incorporating smart home devices into the package delivery process. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **E-commerce:** Smart mailboxes can disrupt the e-commerce industry by providing a more secure and efficient package delivery system. - **Real Estate:** Connected mailboxes can be offered as part of smart home packages, disrupting the real estate industry by promoting modern technology. - **Logistics:** Barcode scanning mailboxes can be utilized as part of larger logistics systems, potentially enhancing supply chain management. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Drone-Compatible Smart Mailboxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-mailboxes.md) - [Connected Package Delivery Safes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doorbox-smart-delivery-box.md) - [Connected Porch Package Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-delivery-box.md) - [Parcel-Friendly Mailbox Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rmb2000-mailbox.md) - [Camera-Equipped Delivery Parcels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/living-packets.md) - [Dedicated Residential Delivery Doors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/parcel-safe.md) - [Solar Parcel Postboxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/royal-mail-solar-postboxes.md) - [IoT Package Delivery Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hyve-home-delivery-pod.md) - [Solar-Powered Smart Parcel Lockers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quadient-x-series-lockers.md)
