The typographic bike racks, commissioned by the [Brooklyn Academy of Music](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brooklyns-architectural-history), are the second collection of artistic bike racks created by Byrne. In 2008, he made a series of oddly shaped bike racks, including a dog, a guitar, a dollar sign and a high heeled shoe, that were installed around New York City. Now Byrne is again catching the eye of New York's cyclists with his [letter-shaped bike racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peace-love-joy), which were unveiled on Aug. 21. All together, Bryne's blue-hued racks spell "Pink Crown"; however, the bike racks aren't bolted into the ground so they can be rearranged to spell out different words. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 25% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Artistic Bike Racks:** Opportunity for artists and designers to create unique and visually appealing bike rack installations in cities. - **Modular Bike Racks:** Potential for bike rack manufacturers to develop modular designs that can be easily rearranged to spell out different words or messages. - **Customizable Bike Infrastructure:** Demand for personalized and customizable bike racks to reflect the unique identities of various neighborhoods and communities. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers can capitalize on the growing trend of incorporating art into urban infrastructure, such as bike racks. - **Urban Planning:** Urban planners can explore the use of visually appealing bike racks as a way to enhance the aesthetics of city streets and encourage cycling. - **Bicycle Manufacturing:** Bicycle manufacturers can create innovative bike rack designs that offer both functionality and artistic value to attract a wider consumer base. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Collaborative Artistic Bicycle Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/david-carson.md) - [Foldable Flatpack Bike Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ahha-toaster-bike-rack.md) - [Tri-Functional Bicycle Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trifunctional-bicycle-rack.md) - [Artist-Envisioned Electric Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artist-collaboration-series.md) - [Broken Bike Lock Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/people-and-places.md) - [Abandoned Bikes-Turned Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/objects-from-frames.md) - [Interactive Typo Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loveegolov.md) - [Bike-Friendly Outdoor Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pinajarro-bench.md) - [Limited-Edition Two-Speed Folding Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twospeed-folding-bike.md)
