Designed by [GamFratesi](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-beetle-dining-chairs) -- the design duo consisting of Italian architect Enrico Fratesi and Danish architect Stine Gam -- the Targa Sofa uses time-honored tradition to achieve the piece. The [sculpted back of the Targa Sofa](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cozmo-hug) mixed with the skeletal wooden beams calls to mind a different era, while the comfortable upholstery makes the furniture suitable for modern spaces. Available in a variety of color options, the Targa two-seat sofa was designed for Gebruder Thonet, which is a furniture company focused on providing minimal designs that experiment with different materials and aesthetics. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.4/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Rustic Retro Furniture:** Design and produce furniture that combines traditional aesthetics with modern functionality. - **Minimal Design:** Create furniture that adopts a simplistic and uncluttered design approach. - **Experimenting with Materials:** Incorporate unconventional materials into furniture design to create unique and visually interesting pieces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Explore opportunities to create and market rustic retro love seats and other furniture that appeals to consumers looking for a blend of traditional and modern styles. - **Interior Design:** Incorporate minimal design principles and rustic retro furniture when creating interior spaces that are both visually appealing and comfortable. - **Materials Innovation:** Develop and offer new materials suitable for furniture design that can be used to experiment and create unique and eye-catching pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bold Upholstered Retro Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/t4-sofa.md) - [Chic Upholstered Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grazia-co.md) - [Ultra-Sophisticated Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ultrasophisticated-sofa-designs.md) - [Retro-Tinged Elegant Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karakter.md) - ['80s Brutalist-Style Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poltrona-frau-2.md) - [Limited Celebratory Bold Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/togo.md) - [Curved Bed-Inspired Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/velar-sofa.md) - [Longevity-Focused Luxe Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spoke-sofa.md) - [Sustainable Easy-Repair Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anderssen-voll1.md)
