# Twisting Snake Buildings Universe Mind by Nikolay Polissky Looks Like Medusa's Head By Meghan Young | Published 2014-08-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twisting-snake-buildings References: [thisiscolossal](http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2014/08/brain-like-building-turned-into-a-twisting-video-mapping-installation/) & [nikola-lenivets](http://nikola-lenivets.com/art/?item=21) Although This Is Collossal likens 'Universe Mind' to a brain, it falls more in line with twisting snake buildings. As though modeled after Medusa's head, the [unusual pavilion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/radius-transformation-pavilion) is covered in a mess of metal tendrils. This may be enough to capture people's attention, but the snake-like qualities are made even more apparent at night. This example of twisting snake buildings turns into an [impressive light show](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shen-sculpture) once night falls. The vibrant moving lights made it look as though the sinuous elements really are twisting around and over each other like a pack of snakes. Designed by Nikolay Polissky, it was recently shown during New Media Night Festival last month at the Nikola-Lenivets Art Park in Moscow, Russia. The light aspect was commissioned by media design studio Radugadesign. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 20% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Twisting Snake Buildings:** Opportunity for architects and designers to create unique and visually captivating structures inspired by the fluidity and movement of snakes. - **Impressive Light Shows:** Potential for event organizers and lighting designers to incorporate vibrant, animated lighting displays to enhance architectural structures and create immersive experiences. - **Media Design Integration:** The integration of media design and art presents opportunities for artists and technologists to collaborate and create interactive installations that merge the physical and digital worlds. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture and Design:** Architects and designers can explore new possibilities in creating unconventional and visually striking buildings and pavilions. - **Event Management and Entertainment:** Event organizers and lighting designers can leverage captivating light shows to enhance the overall experience of events and venues. - **Media and Art:** Media design studios and artists can collaborate to create immersive installations that push the boundaries of traditional art forms. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Snake-Resembling Sculptural Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chuzhi.md) - [Intricate Lighting Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/objects-of-common-interest1.md) - [Organic Spiral Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pasona-natureverse-pavilion.md) - [Brain-Like Labyrinths](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brash-collective.md) - [Code-Generated Pavilion Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-orb.md) - [Kinetic Interaction Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transmutation-observatory.md) - [Maze-Inspired Performance Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/city-of-time.md) - [Interactive Architectural Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-landscape.md) - [Billowing Modular Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curly-cube.md)
