# Headrest Seating The Twist Chair by Miray Oktem is for the Super Lazy By Meghan Young | Published 2010-03-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twist-chair References: [thedesignblog.org](http://www.thedesignblog.org/entry/twist-chair-for-that-much-needed-short-nap-at-work/) & [mirayoktemrbonmade](http://mirayoktem.carbonmade.com/) While in school, I confess that I have spent many nights staying up late frantically finishing a paper due the next week while futilely keeping my head up amidst crushing exhaustion. What I needed was the Twist Chair. Designed by Miray Oktem, the Twist Chair invites you to sit backwards in it in order to use the high 'backrest' as a headrest instead. Although I feel that people will use this out of laziness rather than for productivity's sake, it's still an interesting concept. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 20% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Headrest Seating:** Furniture designers can capitalize on the trend of incorporating headrests into seating for increased comfort and adaptability. - **Backward Seating:** Designers can explore the trend of backward seating in chairs for a more relaxed and comfortable posture. - **Multi-functional Furniture:** The integration of headrests into seating is part of a larger trend towards multi-functional furniture that accommodates various needs and preferences. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Furniture designers can benefit from incorporating innovative headrest features into seating for better ergonomics and customer satisfaction. - **Office Furniture:** The trend towards incorporating headrests in office chairs can benefit the office furniture industry by providing a comfortable and adaptable workspace for employees. - **Home Decor:** Home decor retailers can use multi-functional furniture like the Twist Chair to appeal to consumers who seek practical yet stylish pieces for their homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Nap-Oriented Structural Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/power-nap-chair.md) - [Hybrid Sit-Stand Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lean-on-chair-concept.md) - [Supplemental Posture Chair Supports](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curble-chair.md) - [Health-Focused Office Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-office-chair.md) - [Pretzel-Like Comfortable Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dohui.md) - [Relaxed Anti-Distraction Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fortune-chair.md) - [Adjustable Position Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switch2-chair.md) - [Multi-Position Beanbag Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/revolve-chair.md) - [Cross Legged Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sway-chair.md)
