# 2 Man Guitars Antoine Dufour & Tommy Gauthier Use Four Hands for Twice the Sound By Alex Covert | Published 2009-05-12 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twice-the-sound-four-hands-guitar References: [youtube](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4BYMvVvMg0) There's two ways to play a guitar: strumming and picking. You can do both: but not like this. Watch this video as Antoine Dufour and Tommy Gauthier show you what I mean. They play a song together and when I say together, I mean on the same guitar! One guy picks on the bottom chords and the other strums the beat. Amazing! **Implications** - The video starts off with just Dufour, strumming away. Gauthier soon steps in with a happy smile, helping to create a fantastic melody on the guitar. These two boys should enter a talent contest because they definitely have developed a unique skill! The song they played in the video is called "Jerry's Breakdown." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 6% | Activity: 73% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Internet](https://www.trendhunter.com/internet) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Collaborative Music Performance:** There is an opportunity for a disruptive innovation that allows multiple performers to contribute to the same instrument in real-time - **Multitasking Instruments:** Innovation opportunities arise for instruments that let musicians perform multiple functions at the same time - **Novelty Performances:** Innovation opportunities exist for developing instruments and performance styles that engage audiences in unique ways ### Where This Applies - **Music Technology:** Companies can develop technologies that enable musicians to play multiple instruments at once - **Live Music Events:** There is a potential for creating innovative entertainment experiences that showcase novelty performances - **Music Education:** Innovative music education programs can train musicians to collaborate and develop new performance styles ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dual-Hinge Folding Guitars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-guitars.md) - [Braille-Covered Electric Guitars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vitar-guitar.md) - [Electronic String Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harmoni.md) - [Button-Activated Guitar Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rockdreamer-guitarbar.md) - [Travel-Friendly Folding Guitars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/travelfriendly-folding-guitar.md) - [Acoustic Guitar Bows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pickaso-guitar-bow.md) - [Effect-Emitting Guitar Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guitar-gadgets.md) - [Recycled Guitar Prototypes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-guitar-1.md) - [Minimalist MIDI Guitar Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/midi-guitar.md)
