From the [New York Times](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bric-house), this instructional image explains the correct way to perform the dance move popularized in pop culture. This is especially timely given the controversy surrounding Miley Cyrus's [twerking performance](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zumba-fitness-party) at the VMAs this past Sunday. Gregory E. Miller describes the twerk as a simple art, but one that is easy to mess up. "One wrong move and you're in dangerously out-of-fashion booty-pop territory," he posits. This is especially the case since the booty-pop is only one part of twerking. The twerking how to begins with a wide stance and gives tips for "New Orleans authenticity" and includes multiple Miley references. Whether you genuinely want to learn how to perform this move, or you're still obsessing over Miley three days later, this infographic is a must see. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 53% | Activity: 23% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Twerking How-to Guides:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop an interactive app or virtual reality experience that provides step-by-step twerking instruction. - **Pop Culture Dance Moves:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create a platform that showcases and teaches various dance moves popularized in pop culture, including twerking. - **Infographic Instructional Guides:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design a digital platform that offers visual and interactive infographics for learning various skills and techniques. ### Where This Applies - **Entertainment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop virtual reality experiences or interactive apps that provide immersive and engaging entertainment through dance instruction. - **Fitness and Wellness:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create fitness programs or apps that incorporate twerking as a fun and engaging workout routine. - **E-learning:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Build an e-learning platform focused on teaching dance moves and choreography, catering to users of all skill levels. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dancing NFT Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/natyaverse.md) - [Unique Movement-Based Practices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unique-movementbased-practice.md) - [Metaverse Dance Classes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/international-dance-day.md) - [Thinking Emoji Guides](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thinking-emoji.md) - [AI Dance Teachers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-dance-teacher.md) - [Tech Culture Guides](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/techbro-handbook.md) - [Body Paint Fashion Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miley-cyrus-maison-margiela.md) - [Travel-Focused Marketing Guides](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiktok-5.md) - [Social Video Algorithm Transparency](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/for-you-page.md)
