# Bird Cage-Inspired Lighting The Tweetie Pendant Lamp by Jake Phipps is Whimsically Chic By Meghan Young | Published 2014-02-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tweetie-pendant-lamp References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2014/02/20/tweetie-by-jake-phipps-and-bosa-for-casamania/) & [jakephipps](http://jakephipps.com/) At first glance, the Tweetie Pendant Lamp will look purely decorative. It takes on the form of a golden bird cage complete with a gold bird inside. Although no Tweety Bird of Looney Tunes, these silent chirpers do bring a bit of [playful whimsy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toto-lamp) into the home. Of course, in a much more chic way than any cartoon character ever could. Designed by Jake Phipps in collaboration with [BOSA](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/danza-collection) for manufacturer CASAMANIA, the Tweetie Pendant Lamp is inspired by the tradition of canaries in homes from ancient Egyptian and Roman civilizations to Victorian courts. It is a symbolic figure of good manners. Made out of metal rod painted either black or coated in 24 karat gold, the Tweetie Pendant Lamp's light source is placed at the base. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 74% | Activity: 48% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Whimsical Lighting:** There's an opportunity to create more innovative and aesthetically pleasing lighting fixtures that add playfulness to indoor spaces. - **Animal-inspired Designs:** Design elements from the natural world, such as animals, can be incorporated to create unique and visually appealing home decor. - **Tradition-inspired Decor:** Drawing inspiration from cultural and historical traditions can be a way to create modern decor with a vintage twist. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies can create innovative lighting fixtures that add playfulness and personality to indoor spaces, inspired by the natural world. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate animal-inspired designs into their projects to create visually unique and playful spaces for their clients. - **Artisanal Manufacturing:** Independent manufacturers can create tradition-inspired home decor products like the Tweetie Pendant Lamp using metalworking techniques for a vintage and handmade feel. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Metal Thread Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nest-lamp.md) - [Birdcage-Inspired Smart Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bird-intelligent-sound-box.md) - [Bird-Inspired Earbud Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tweettunes.md) - [Encapsulated Semi-Transparent Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nested-pendant-light.md) - [Plant Pod-Inspired Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nature-inspired-pendant-light.md) - [Baked Good-Inspired Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/croissant-pendant.md) - [Bakery-Inspired Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/croissant-pendant-light.md) - [Exquisite Textured Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pendant-lamp1.md) - [Pasta-Inspired Curvaceous Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neotenic-lamp.md)
