# Private Minimalist Abodes The 'TV House' is a Wood-Cladded Hidden Hideaway By Christopher Magsambol | Published 2015-09-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tv-house References: [wallpaper](http://www.wallpaper.com/architecture/behind-closed-doors-an-introverted-belgian-house-is-the-perfect-hideaway/9528) & [brunovanbesien.be](http://www.brunovanbesien.be/) From the outside, the 'TV House' looks like an oddly-shaped private structure. This lack of visual interest however was purposeful. Apart from a single door, this introverted house closes off the outside, but its interior proves to be a much more open and welcoming space. Architect Bruno Vanbesien had a unique inspiration for the structure: old-style Belgian farmhouses and traditional communal residences in China. Using his inspirations, Vanbesien designed a simple square-shaped home with an addition of a sloped ceiling to keep the home private from neighbors. The closed-off exterior is a stark contrast to the open-concept interior. Large windows across the main floor also bring in an abundance of light, providing extensive views of the [large courtyard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sanctum-house). Light-clored furnishings and a [minimalist design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-minimale) brighten up the [hidden hideaway's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hidden-villa) interior. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.6/10 - Popularity: 78% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist Architecture:** Opportunities for architects and designers to create minimalistic structures that prioritize privacy while still maximizing space and light. - **Modern Farmhouse Style:** Inspirations from antique farmhouses can be used to design modern minimalist homes that balance style and functionality. - **Intentional Privacy:** A focus on privacy in architecture can lead to innovative designs that prioritize seclusion without sacrificing aesthetics or natural light. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Architects and designers have the opportunity to create new and innovative designs that prioritize privacy and minimalist aesthetics. - **Real Estate:** Real estate companies can offer properties with unique and innovative minimalist designs that balance privacy and style. - **Furniture:** Furniture companies can create customizable and functional pieces specifically designed for minimalist homes with a focus on privacy and light. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Privacy Enhanced Minimal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-open-house-1.md) - [Minimalist Townhouse Renos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/townhouse-vi.md) - [Forest Lantern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iside-home.md) - [Simplistic Tranquil Garden Studios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuinhuis-atelier.md) - [Curvaceous Privacy Wall Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kwk-promes-open-house.md) - [Low-Lying Mid-Century Belgian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-the-fields.md) - [Minimal Japanese Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-kyobate.md) - [Glass‑brick Belgian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-brick-house.md) - [Blackened Timber Tranquil Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-hideaway-house.md)
