The hotel destination combines sustainable designs with [local building materials](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-cabin) to create [five floating bamboo bungalows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-river-cabin) committed to preserving its surrounding ecosystem. In Thai folklore, turtles are known for bringing prosperity. The region is home to many turtles; the eco-hotels aim to honor the animals through their mimicking structure. Architect Sarawoot Janseng-Aram from Dersyn Studio Co. designed and constructed Turtle Bay to float atop the [lotus-covered Khao Tao Reservoir](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nelumbo). Guests are immersed in the local landscape to connect them to the Thai coastal town. The five bungalows -- each constructed from bamboo -- connect to one another via wooden walkways.
