From Israeli student Yakir Buaron, the record player also lets people look inside and see how the whole thing works as it plays. The simple turntable design concept focuses on the [movement of the needle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-kinetic), which is what connects the music player to the record as it spins and makes the audio work. The functional invention is currently on display at Shenkar College, where Buaron is currently a student. The beautiful turntable demonstrates the appeal of reintroducing older technology when its look is the focus, and secondary to the quality of the function. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 92% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Minimalist Record Players:** A trend towards minimalism in turntable design that prioritize aesthetic appeal and function. - **Visual Esthetics in Electronics:** A trend towards integrating visual aesthetics into the design of electronics, such as allowing people to see how the product works. - **Reintroducing Old Technology:** A trend towards reintroducing older technology, with a focus on aesthetic appeal rather than advanced function. ### Where This Applies - **Audio Equipment:** Innovative opportunities to create new minimalist designs in audio equipment. - **Furniture Design:** Opportunities to integrate record players as artistic furnishings in homes and public spaces. - **Art and Design Education:** Potential for interdisciplinary education programs combining art and design with engineering and technology. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimalist Vinyl Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-paron-iii.md) - [Retro-Modern Turntable Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vertical-turntable-concept.md) - [Record-Cleaning Vinyl Turntables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crescent-turntable.md) - [Elegant Upright Turntables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blok-turntable.md) - [Metallic Architectural Record Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rytm.md) - [See-Through Sci-Fi Turntable Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harman-kardon-record-player.md) - [Sculptural Modern Turntable Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amuni-studio.md) - [Transparent Vinyl Player Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transparent-vinyl-player.md) - [Sleek Minimal Clear Turntables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transparent-turntable-1.md)
