# 8-Bit Face Generators The 'Turn Your Name Into a Face' Puts an Image to the Name By Carly Foy | Published 2011-04-26 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/turn-your-name-into-a-face References: [buzzfeed](http://www.buzzfeed.com/gavon/turn-your-name-into-a-face) & [turnyournameintoaface](http://turnyournameintoaface.com/?name=carly) The 'Turn Your Name Into a Face' generator is an odd way to pass time. With a website that is very plain in design and simple to use, the generator asks the user to do input their name and click "into a face." Then, an 8-bit image of you will appear. The website doesn't differentiate between female and male (which probably isn't that surprising), as female names such as Kate Middleton generated a bald man with a sole patch. The 'Turn Your Name Into a Face' generator can be hysterical, however, without the gender differentiation. Putting family, friends and celebrities into offers a fun way to pass the time. Who knows, maybe the generator will actually make an 8-bit that looks true to a person's name. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 81% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Internet](https://www.trendhunter.com/internet) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **8-bit Avatars:** Creating 8-bit avatars of oneself or others can become a popular trend for social media users. - **Gender-specific Face Generators:** Developing gender-specific face generators can address the inaccuracies in the current turn-your-name-into-a-face generator. - **Custom Face Generator Apps:** Developing custom face generator apps for individuals or businesses can be a lucrative opportunity in the gaming and entertainment industry. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Gaming:** Integrating more 8-bit avatars into gaming platforms can provide a nostalgic appeal to gamers and newer generations of video game enthusiasts. - **Social Media:** Implementing a feature that allows users to turn their names into faces can boost engagement and attract more users to a social media platform. - **Entertainment:** Developing customizable 8-bit avatar generators for movies and TV shows can enhance the fan experience and expand the merchandise market. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stylized Portrait Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/face-to-all.md) - [Viral Face Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crazyface.md) - [AI Cartoon Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-cartoon-generators.md) - [Avatar Creation Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-avatar-generator.md) - [AI-Generated Human Images](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/human-generator.md) - [AI Avatar Creation Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-avatar1.md) - [Green Album Image Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brat-generator.md) - [AI Avatar Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/selfie-ai.md) - [Digital Avatar Creators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/avatar-generator.md)
