# Angle-Exploiting Lamps This Lamp by Tuomas Auvinen Utilizes Otherwise Wasted Space By Allen Taylor | Published 2014-03-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuomas-auvinen References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2014/03/24/versatile-lamp-tuomas-auvinen-muuto-talent-award/) & [tuomasauvinen](http://tuomasauvinen.com/) Finnish designer Tuomas Auvinen designed a lamp that utilizes otherwise wasted space where the wall meets the ceiling. The design won Auvinen this year's Muuto Talent Award for students. The lamp has a [spotlight aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-delta-lamp), and the back is shaped at a 90-degree angle. You're able to nestle the lamp right up close to the ceiling or anywhere that two perpendicular surfaces meet. The circular face of the lamp always sits at a 45-degree angle. Auvinen says, "one day when entering an empty apartment, I wondered why the corners and angles were not better exploited." This design aims to fill that space in a stylish, functional way. The lamp could be left to rest on the floor, [suspended by its cord](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-light) or fastened to the wall. Wherever you choose to put the lamp, it will cast light at a room-filling 45-degree angle. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 38% | Activity: 55% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Space-optimizing Design:** The lamp's design exploits otherwise wasted space, opening opportunities for space-saving innovations in various industries. - **Multi-functional Lighting:** The lamp's ability to be placed on the floor, suspended, or fastened to the wall highlights the potential for multi-functional lighting solutions in the market. - **Angled Illumination:** The lamp's 45-degree angle of light projection presents opportunities for creating innovative lighting designs that offer unique lighting experiences. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** The space-optimizing design of the lamp opens up possibilities for interior design companies to create versatile and efficient living spaces. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** The lamp's multi-functional features call for innovative lighting manufacturing processes and product designs to meet the demand for flexible lighting solutions. - **Architectural Products:** The angled illumination concept of the lamp can inspire architectural product manufacturers to develop lighting fixtures that enhance the aesthetics and functionality of interior spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Elegant Axis-Mounted Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pendulum-lamp.md) - [Space-Efficient Versatile Lamp Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dedicate-lamp.md) - [Ultra-Flexible Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anywhereuse-lamp.md) - [Geometric-Shaped Wall Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impulse-wall-light.md) - [Simplistic Angular Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-table-lamp.md) - [Interactive Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-lamp.md) - [Customizable Industrial Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pi-modular-lamp.md) - [Tunnel-Like Wall Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/endless-wall-lamp.md) - [Outlet-Equipped Workstation Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/avro-pendant-lamp.md)
