# Intriguing Tunnel Exhibits Artist Sophia Chang Created This White Tunnel Art Exhibit By Lacey-Jane Walsh | Published 2013-12-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tunnel-art References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2013/12/22/huge-fabric-cocoon-sophia-chang-extended/) & [sophia-chang](http://sophia-chang.com/) Clever artist Sophia Chang is behind this whimsical [tunnel art exhibit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atelier-xk) in the Invivia Gallery. Essentially this exhibit consists of a series of soft Lycra tunnels for observers to wander through. People get to wander through white halls, some of which have [colored lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spencer-finch). This tunnel art series is actually pretty large, stretching across the span of two of the gallery's entrances. It also wraps around a spiral staircase within the gallery, which looks pretty neat from inside the tunnel. What's great about Chang's art exhibit is that it offers observers an experience, and involves far more of their senses than most sculptures or paintings. They get to walk through the tunnels (which doesn't look easy) and fall into the [soft walls all around them](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deep-calm), which makes this tunnel an adventure rather than a standard work of art. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 25% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Sensory Exhibits:** Art exhibits that engage multiple senses to create immersive experiences. - **Interactive Installations:** Art installations that allow and even encourage audience participation and engagement. - **Whimsical Sculptures:** Sculptures with playful and imaginative designs that capture the viewer's attention. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art Galleries:** Exploring more interactive, avant-garde exhibits can attract a wider, younger audience. - **Event Planning:** Interactive exhibits like these can add an element of excitement and novelty to events. - **Tourism:** Sensory exhibits and installations can create unique and memorable tourist experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Illuminated Curtained Light Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/making-the-invisible-visible.md) - [Color-In Commuter Tunnels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/masterpeace-painting.md) - [Perception-Challenging Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/becoming-familiar.md) - [Interactive Light Experience](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/every-wall-is-a-door.md) - [Brain-Like Labyrinths](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brash-collective.md) - [Indoor Playground Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/indoor-playground-art-exhibition.md) - [Artful Meditative Sculptural Caves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drawing-on-space.md) - [Cave-Enclosed Residency Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transhumances-iii.md)
