The knobs essentially bring the sensation of touch-based feedback to music-making apps and software. The setup begins with the attachment of a transparent acrylic base to the touchscreen of the device using a suction cup. The base is attached so as to align with virtual knobs displayed on-screen. This allows digital music composers to turn the knobs and see their physical movements translated into [touch commands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-id360-touchstone) in the accompanying app. Tuna Knobs are compatible with iOS, Android as well as Windows devices. The developers of Tuna Knobs have taken to [Kickstarter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/matrix-midi-controller) to raise funds for further development and production of their nifty product. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 79% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Virtual Knob Controls:** The trend of using knob-based controls on capacitive touchscreens to enhance digital music-making experiences. - **Touch-based Feedback:** The trend of incorporating touch-based feedback in music-making apps and software to improve user experience. - **Crowdfunding for Hardware Development:** The trend of using crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter to raise funds for the development and production of innovative hardware products. ### Where This Applies - **Music Production:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in music production industry by integrating virtual knob controls into digital music-making devices and software. - **App Development:** Disruptive innovation opportunities for app developers to create music-making apps with touch-based feedback to enhance user experience. - **Crowdfunding:** Disruptive innovation opportunities for crowdfunding platforms to support the development of innovative hardware products like Tuna Knobs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dedicated PC Control Knobs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ploopy-knob.md) - [Tactile Interactive Music Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yamaha.md) - [Sleek Stone Knob Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/application-programming-interface.md) - [Personalization-Friendly PC Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elgato-stream-deck-plus.md) - [Portable Music Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-midi-controller.md) - [Modular DJ Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twin-dj.md) - [Programmable Single-Knob Keypads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macro-knob-pad.md) - [Sleek Workflow-Enhancing Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knob-1-keyboard.md) - [Intuitive Interface Audio Recorders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tascam-portacapture-x8.md)
