# Flat-Pack Paper Lamps The Tsubomi Table Lamp Unfolds from a Flat Sheet into a Sculptural Form By Amy Duong | Published 2025-11-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tsubomi References: [dezeen](https://www.dezeen.com/2025/11/21/kazuhiro-yamanaka-flat-packed-paper-lamp/) The [Tsubomi](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kazuhiro-yamanaka-tsubomi-lamp) Table Lamp unfolds from a flat sheet into a sculptural paper form by relying on pre-creased high-strength paper that ships in an envelope and expands into a full lamp when released. The design eliminates tools and hardware, allowing the piece to spring into shape through its own geometry. Once open, the layered folds create soft ambient illumination and cast gentle shadows across the surface, giving the lamp a sense of quiet movement. The approach emphasises portability, storage efficiency, and simplicity of assembly, making the lamp suitable for compact living spaces or flexible interiors that benefit from lightweight lighting options. The shape draws from organic references and treats paper as both structure and diffuser. The refined folding pattern supports the form while allowing light to pass evenly through the material. The overall result is a functional and decorative object that blends [traditional paper craft](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fungbedford) with contemporary [flat pack logic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allen-key-lamp) to create a calm and expressive presence.
