# Severed Log Stem Holders The Trunk Vase Seems a Natural Vessel for Presenting Flower Arrangements By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trunk-vase References: [nosigner](http://nosigner.com/case/trunk) The contemporary Trunk Vase is the result of a collaboration between Nosigner and the flower designer Nobuaki Kawahara. The creatives decided that to make an object intended for the presentation of beautiful stems, leaves and petals, the logical inspiration was something that also grows out of the ground. This decorative item was made to look like a segment from the [body of a tree](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hayashi-cabinet), chopped off at the top and the bottom to embody an organic yet loosely cylindrical shape. These [gorgeous containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gourd-project) are made from ceramic material and textured by molds made from genuine tree bark. The piece comes in white and charcoal. When you put a single [ornamental branch](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aghsan) or even a bouquet of flowers into the Trunk Vase, what you end up with is this visual montage that seems to reference one complete plant. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 45% | Activity: 7% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Organic-inspired Vases:** Capitalizing on the growing demand for sustainable and eco-friendly home decor by creating unique, nature-inspired vase designs. - **Ceramic Texture Trends:** Tapping into the popularity of textured and tactile home decor by incorporating ceramic materials with interesting surface designs like tree bark. - **Minimalist Flower Arrangement:** Meeting the needs of modern consumers who are looking for simple and elegant flower arrangements that complement contemporary home decor. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** Innovating new ways of using organic design elements for home decor that speak to the current sustainability movement. - **Ceramics:** Exploring new ways of working with ceramics to create authentic textures and surface designs. - **Floral Design:** Transforming traditional floral arrangements to fit with modern aesthetics and the growing demand for simplicity. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Miniature Cylindrical Flower Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hanakubari.md) - [Minimalist Illusory Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vaso-gota-vase.md) - [Copper Tubular Minimal Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hiroyuki-yuasa.md) - [Greenery-Inspired Textured Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leaf-textured-ceramic-vase.md) - [Personalized Floral Grid Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-vase.md) - [Unusual Home Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceramic-brown-paper-bag-vase.md) - [Eco-Friendly Organized Containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tronco.md) - [Ocean-Inspired Home Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceramic-coralshaped-vase.md) - [Connection-Inspired X-Shaped Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vaax.md)
