# Hollow-Bottomed Sofas The Tru Chair Might Look Voluminous, but it Conceals Plenty of Storage Space By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-01-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tru-chair References: [sixoeight](http://sixoeight.com/product/tru/) Homeowners know that you can never undervalue the existence of sufficient [storage space](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chunks-and-blocks). This Tru Chair just happens to give you substantially more than you might expect, considering that its primary function is as a piece of furniture for sitting. You can't tell when you're observing it from the side, but the 608 Design [tuxedo-style armchair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perron-pillo-lounge-chair) has a pair of tall and slender cubbies integrated into its base. The [dark wooden boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/same-same) are tucked in beneath the upholstered armrests, contributing to the crisp rigid shape of its squared form and possibly to its stability as well. What you won't have guessed about the Tru Chair is that there's another niche for stashing your stuff. With your magazines and books slipped into the sides, blankets and pillows can be pulled in and out of the under-seat chest according to necessity. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Hidden Storage Furniture:** Creating furniture pieces with concealed storage compartments presents an opportunity for innovative and space-saving designs. - **Multi-functional Sofas:** Designing sofas with additional storage space allows for versatile and practical furniture options in small living spaces. - **Optimizing Space in Furniture:** Exploring ways to maximize storage capacity in the design of furniture items opens up possibilities for efficient and organized living environments. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can explore creating innovative pieces that integrate hidden storage compartments for enhanced functionality. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating multi-functional sofas with ample storage space into interior designs can provide stylish and space-saving solutions for homeowners. - **Home Organization:** The home organization industry can benefit from optimizing space in furniture by offering products that help individuals declutter and maximize storage capacity. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Storage-Attached Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-chair.md) - [Cozy Storage-Focused Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pocket-chair.md) - [Chic Single-Piece Plywood Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/void-lounge-chair.md) - [Hollow Multipurpose Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tailor-armchair.md) - [Antitheft Storage Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/afford-chair.md) - [Striking Storage-Friendly Poufs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berliner-pouf.md) - [Posh Pet-Friendly Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arch-chair-design.md) - [Dual-Function Seating Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rubik-stool.md) - [Dual-Sided Storage Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bond-stool-system.md)
