# Violent Femme Visions The Troy Galluzzi Collection of Illustrations is Fierce and Ferocious By Sophia Pelka | Published 2012-03-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/troy-galluzzi References: [english.mashkulture.net](http://english.mashkulture.net/2012/01/05/troy-galluzzi-aka-skullsquid/) & [skullsquid.net](http://skullsquid.net/files/Troy_Galluzzi_resume_2011.pdf) Troy Galluzzi renders these culturally charged portraits of vicious women. The [painterly images are created digitally](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition), allowing for pristine use of color and a smooth incorporation of typography. The works are thick with complex narratives and sharp attitude. Each illustration features a [painfully gorgeous, vengeful woman](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mariemurs-judge-me-guilty) in the midst of scheme. A favorite of mine from the collection is 'Smoke Break,' which depicts a stunning silhouette stalking off from an exploding diesel station. Her skimpy shirt reads 'Quiet Riot,' a not-too-subtle metaphor for the power of women. Based in L.A., Galluzzi works as an illustrator, concept director and graphic designer. He has worked for big-name companies, such as NFL.com and Nylon Magazine. Troy Galluzzi also co-founded the [exclusive artist networking site](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/limitededition-print-series) Gorilla Artfare. The Troy Galluzzi series is perfect for the dangerous woman or anyone who has happened to forget that females do in fact bite. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 36% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Violent Femme Art:** Creating art featuring fierce and vengeful women can be a disruptive innovation opportunity for illustrators and painters alike. - **Digital Painting:** Exploration of digital art can be an area of exploration for artists seeking to expand their horizons. - **Cultural Commentary:** Incorporating cultural metaphors into art can be an opportunity for artists to provide great social commentary. ### Where This Applies - **Graphic Design:** Creating illustrations for magazines and advertising can be an area of exploration for graphic designers. - **Artist Networking:** Co-founding exclusive networking sites for artists can be a valuable business opportunity for those in the industry. - **Fine Art:** Entering the fine art gallery and auction space can be a lucrative area of growth for artists producing culturally-relevant work. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Glamorous Artful Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-jane.md) - [Visually Morphing Muses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glitchy-bitches.md) - [Anti-Gender Violence Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antigender-violence-campaign.md) - [Human Duality-Themed Abstract Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/passive-aggression.md) - [Feminine Rebellion Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/songs-of-siren.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Raw Sports Emotion Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/game-exhibition.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Art-Inspired Streetwear Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silent-echoes.md)
