# Tropical Modern Homes David Guerra Creates a Jungle Out of Brazilian Courtyard By Kalin Ned | Published 2018-02-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tropical-modern-homes References: [dezeen](https://www.dezeen.com/2018/02/03/valley-house-ii-david-guerra-nova-lima-minas-gerais-brazil-tropical-courtyard-garden/) & [davidguerra.br](http://www.davidguerra.com.br/) It seems that designing tropical modern homes is a strong suite for local Brazillian architect David Guerra. The [Valley House II](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aquila-sauna) is a residence located on an elevation-varying site in Nova Lima -- a municipality of Minas Gerais. To emphasize natural elements and maximize exposure to light and the outdoors, David Guerra concealed the cement and stone structure within a lush jungle of bushy grass, palm trees and other tropical vegetation. A range of sliding doors occupy the first floor, creating an apt exposure to outside greenery. To construct an indoor oasis, David Guerra surrounded the inside courtyard of the building and filled it with a range of botanic species. The Valley House II is a type of tropical modern homes that break the barrier and showcase a reached equilibrium between two vastly different environments. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 80% | Activity: 44% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Tropical Modern Homes:** Tropical modern homes that seamlessly integrate indoor and outdoor spaces with natural elements and lush vegetation. - **Sliding Doors:** Innovative sliding door designs that allow for maximum exposure to the outdoors and a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. - **Indoor Oasis:** The creation of indoor courtyards filled with botanic species to bring a natural and calming element to the interior of homes. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture and Interior Design:** Opportunities for architects and interior designers to create innovative and sustainable tropical modern homes. - **Building Materials:** Demand for building materials that can seamlessly blend in with natural surroundings and withstand tropical climates. - **Landscaping and Horticulture:** Increased interest in tropical vegetation and innovative landscaping designs for creating indoor and outdoor oases in homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sleek Contemporary Brazilian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laguna-house.md) - [Discreet Modern Brazil Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jf-residence.md) - [Brazilian Modern Dallas Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brazilian-modernism.md) - [Harmonious Modern Beach Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-d31.md) - [Landscape-Integrated Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-by-the-grove.md) - [Curved Garden-Surrounding Linear Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-dos-terraos-circulares.md) - [Forest Edge House Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-guapuruvu.md) - [Tranquil Functional Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atelier-varun.md) - [Tropical House Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-brisana.md)
