# Dual-Purpose Lighting Trioh! by Greg Hinzmann is Both a Table Lamp and Flashlight By Meghan Young | Published 2012-06-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trioh-by-greg-hinzmann References: [core77](http://www.core77.com/blog/kickstarter/the_trioh_flashlight_appears_when_you_need_it_22713.asp) & [kickstarter](http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1540504137/trioh-the-worlds-most-beautiful-flashlight) While a lamp may be incredibly handy and practical as is, Trioh! by Greg Hinzmann takes it to a whole other level. It is a [two-in-one light fixture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arkpro-series) that breaks apart into a flashlight in emergencies. Essentially, it is an unassuming [table lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spot-on-charger) when resting in its charging dock and when necessary, the top portion can be released and utilized as a [portable torch](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fl1-flashlight). The simple and sleek design of the Trioh! by Greg Hinzmann makes it the perfect accessory for any home. The Oregon-based industrial designer wanted to make sure that such a universally useful tool would satisfy the tastes of just about any individual. The best feature about this light is that when there is a power outage, it senses it through the charger and automatically illuminates. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Dual-purpose Lighting:** The trend of combining multiple functionalities into lighting fixtures provides opportunities for disruptive innovation. - **Table Lamp-flashlight Hybrid:** The emergence of table lamps that can double as flashlights offers disruptive innovation opportunities in the lighting industry. - **Automatic Power Outage Detection:** The trend of lighting fixtures automatically detecting power outages and providing illumination presents disruptive innovation opportunities in the home lighting sector. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Lighting:** The lighting industry can explore disruptive innovation by incorporating dual-purpose functionality in their product designs. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can benefit from disruptive innovation by incorporating multi-functional lighting fixtures that offer practicality and style. - **Emergency Preparedness:** The emergency preparedness industry can leverage the trend of flashlight-lamp hybrids to provide innovative lighting solutions for emergencies. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [3-in-1 Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biancinoti.md) - [Conical Multifunctional Lamp Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-light.md) - [Miniature Camping Flashlights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hoto-flashlight-duo.md) - [Ultra-Flexible Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anywhereuse-lamp.md) - [Portable Camera-Equipped Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ilma-lamp.md) - [Comforting Multifunctional Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buddy-portable-lamp.md) - [Emergency Evacuation Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-strix.md) - [Artistic Tech-Charging Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/combi-table-lamp.md) - [Mood-Setting Adventurous Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guidelight.md)
