# Three-Wheeled Downhill Sports Trike Drifting is Like Mario Kart in Real Life By Harris Jay Rosenberg Alterman | Published 2012-03-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trike-drifting References: [uniquedaily](http://uniquedaily.com/2012/03/trike-drifting/) & [youtube](http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=BNZCZsHJIR8#) When it comes to extreme sports, none look more fun than Trike Drifting. This [downhill sport](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/red-bulls-building-drop) involves adding some [more sustainable wheels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-trike-design) to a tricycle then racing down a hill at a high speeds. To get themselves going, the guys on the tricycles hold on to a rope that is attached to a van in front of them. The van begins driving and tugs them along, giving them some starting momentum. Once they have picked up speed, it's off to the races for these daredevils. The [tricycles actually go incredibly fast](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meet-one-trike-tour) and are quite able to drift around corners. Trike Drifting is a little terrifying to watch because the guys on tricycles are just inches off the ground and without helmets (one guy even partakes without shoes). Trike Drifting could definitely take off and become an event at the X-Games. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 77% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Trike Drifting:** Innovative three-wheeled downhill sport with potential for adrenaline-fueled competitions. - **Extreme Sports:** Growing trend of enthusiasts seeking thrilling and unconventional sports experiences. - **Sustainable Wheels:** Increasing interest in eco-friendly alternatives for extreme sports equipment. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Sports and Recreation:** Opportunity for businesses to cater to the demand for unique and adventurous sports activities. - **Automotive:** Potential for collaboration between auto manufacturers and trike drifting organizers to develop specialized vehicles. - **Outdoor Equipment:** Rising market for specialized gear and protective wear to enhance safety and performance in extreme sports. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tilting Electric Trikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tilting-electric-trikes.md) - [Wearable Electric Three-Wheelers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wearable-electric-threewheeler.md) - [Lightweight Electric Trike Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rad-power-bikes-radtrike.md) - [Supportive Three-Wheeled Electric Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xp-trike.md) - [Automated Vehicle Maneuverability Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/autonomous-drifting.md) - [Retro-Style Electric Trikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/etrike-revolution.md) - [Recumbent Electric Trikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/recumbent-electric-trike.md) - [Electric Toddler-Friendly Trikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/droyd-romper.md) - [Daily Driver E-Tricycles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/herotri-m.md)
