# Suspended Sustainable Stalactites This Funky Ceiling by Tribe Studio is Flashy and Educational By Jordan M | Published 2011-01-25 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tribe-studio References: [tribestudio.au](http://www.tribestudio.com.au/) Tribe Studio unleashed these awesome [ceiling fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corka) at Sydney's Eat Green Design Festival as a creative way to make a bold eco statement while also showing off some serious creative chops. The design makes use of [spirals that hang from the roof](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pasona-natureverse-pavilion) like stalactites. The spirals hang off of sheets of Australian hoop ply which Tribe Studio has attached to a [recycled steel foundation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nytt-lys-collection). The overall result is a stylish but inviting design that is literally saturated with character while also serving as a positive reminder that eco-friendly design can still be aesthetically appealing. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 12% | Activity: 16% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Eco-friendly Interior Design:** There is a growing demand for interior designers specializing in sustainable and eco-friendly designs. - **Sustainable Lighting Design:** The use of sustainable and eco-friendly lighting fixtures is becoming a popular trend in modern interior design. - **Installation Art:** More and more artists and designers are incorporating installation art into their designs to create immersive experiences for their clients. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Sustainable and eco-friendly interior design is disrupting the traditional interior design industry, as more clients demand environmentally conscious designs. - **Lighting Design:** Sustainable and eco-friendly lighting design is disrupting the traditional lighting industry, as more clients demand environmentally conscious lighting fixtures. - **Art and Design:** The trend of incorporating installation art into designs is disrupting traditional art and design industries, as it creates new opportunities for artists and designers to create immersive experiences for clients. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sustainable Cylindrical Ceiling Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stackabl-lighting-collection.md) - [Algae-Based Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chandeliers-sconces.md) - [Demure Dual-Function Hanging Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-fixture-planter.md) - [Otherworldly Lighting Fixture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otherworldly-lighting-fixture.md) - [Biomaterial Interior Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spring-studio.md) - [Energy-Saving Artistically Contoured Ceilings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contoured-ceiling.md) - [Recycled Paper Pulp Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-lamp1.md) - [Recycled Material Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zbozhzha-pendant-light.md) - [Sculptural Acoustic Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/echoes-of-the-deep.md)
