# Wine Trial by Vial WineSide Test Tube Samples By varkeychaya | Published 2008-04-20 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trial-by-wine References: [wineside.net](http://www.wineside.net/) Fine wine is often an art kept to connoisseurs and other "cultured," snobby people. But for the rest of us, how do we select a wine without letting our ignorance take the better of us? People who are not too well informed of the right year or region now have the ability to sample a selection of fine wines before actually shelling out a small fortune for that special occasion. **WineSide** has come up with the novel approach of offering wines packaged in [sample size tubes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/estate-collection-by-the-glass). WineSide offers both sweet and classic wines in patented, flat-base glass tubes with screw tops carefully engineered to protect the flavours of te wine. The sweet wines, which include Sauternes and [Muscat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glenrinnes-distillery), for example, are available in 6cl tubes, while the Pomerol, [Chateau Neuf du Pape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/global-wine-experience) and other classic wines to be purchased in 6cl or 10cl sizes. They offer a range of appellations and producers. Tubes are available individually or by the box, which can be chosen to provide an introduction to a variety, year or region. The products are available exclusively at Colette in Paris this month. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 64% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sample Size Packaging:** Exploring the use of sample size packaging for wine allows consumers to try a variety of wines without committing to a full bottle, opening up opportunities for new market segments. - **Screw Top Packaging:** Incorporating screw tops in wine packaging provides convenience and preserves the flavors of the wine, presenting a disruptive innovation opportunity in the traditional cork-dominated wine industry. - **Personalized Wine Selection:** The concept of offering wines packaged in tubes allows customers to curate their own selection based on preferred appellations, producers, years, or regions, creating opportunities for personalized wine experiences. ### Who This Affects Most - **Wine Packaging:** The introduction of sample size packaging and screw tops in the wine industry presents an opportunity to revolutionize the way wines are packaged and preserved. - **Wine Retail:** By offering personalized wine selections through sample size packaging, retailers can attract a wider range of customers and provide unique wine experiences. - **Wine Tourism:** Incorporating sample size packaging in wine tourism experiences allows tourists to explore a variety of wines in different regions, enhancing their overall wine tasting and travel experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Coastal Wine Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seaside-tasting-wine-kit.md) - [Festive Wine Tasting Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wine-advent-calendar-collection.md) - [Gamified Wine Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-grape-detective.md) - [Floral-Themed Wine Tastings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wine-bouquet-tasting-experience.md) - [Seasonally Themed Wine Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seasonallythemed-wine-box.md) - [Global Wine Tasting Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/january-tasting-experience.md) - [Wine Personality Test Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wine-personality-test.md) - [Californian Wine Tasting Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/californian-wine.md) - [Single-Serve Wine Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coravin-vinitas.md)
