# Arm-Inspired Table Trestles Tretto by Tim Defleur is Based on an Isostatic System By Meghan Young | Published 2014-02-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tretto-by-tim-defleur References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/TRETTO/10843105) & [timdefleur](http://www.timdefleur.com/) Tretto by Tim Defleur, an industrial designer hailing from Bruxelles, Belgium, is an innovative trestle that is inspired by the articulation of human arms. It essentially takes on a common position when people lean on tables. Since this position clearly supports their upper body comfortably, the designer thought it would do just fine for [tabletops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tumble-tables) as well. The beauty of Tretto by Tim Defleur is that it also adds a dynamic feel to the design of such furniture pieces. Although still comprised of [four legs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monumental-table), the table has a sense of movement that gives the otherwise [minimalist design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tong-side-table) a playful vibe. According to the designer, "Using an isostatic system, TRETTO is strong enough to support different kind of plates, materials and sizes." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 37% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Articulated Table Trestles:** There is an opportunity to create movable and flexible table trestles by using articulated designs inspired by human body movements. - **Dynamic Furniture Design:** Designing furniture with a sense of movement and playfulness can attract customers who appreciate innovative and eye-catching designs. - **Isostatic Structures:** Promoting furniture built with isostatic systems to increase stability and create new opportunities for materials and plate sizes could become a trend in the industry. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can use this trend to create new designs that incorporate flexibility and playfulness, while also focusing on stability and unique material choices. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can use dynamic furniture designs to create bold and expressive spaces tailored to clients' tastes and preferences. - **Architecture:** Architects can use articulated table trestles to create innovative and dynamic spaces that stand out from traditional designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wooden Table-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tidone.md) - [Minimalist Upcycled Aluminum Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/truss-furniture.md) - [Crawling Dynamic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carpentopod.md) - [Portable Tray Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taso-tray-table.md) - [Skeletal Industrial Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/landr-dining-and-conference-table.md) - [Terrazzo Side Table Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balance-side-table.md) - [Elegant Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-table.md) - [Dynamic Sculptural Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table.md) - [Industrial Shapeshifting Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jointable.md)
