# Funky Fiberglass Lighting The Tress Suspension Lamp is Rich and Full of Character By Meghan Young | Published 2011-12-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tress-suspension-lamp References: [trendir](http://www.trendir.com/archives/005977.html) & [foscarini](http://www.foscarini.com/) The Tress Suspension Lamp may look funky, but there is a simple sophistication to it as well due to the sleek cylindrical shape it takes on. Striking a perfect balance between modern minimalism and quirky individuality, this light fixture offers a chic living space decoration. Conceived by designer Marc Sadler for Italy-based lighting manufacturer [Foscarini](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foscarini-1), the Tress Suspension Lamp is available in three sizes (small, medium and large) and three colors (red, black and white). Made out of a blend of composite material and fiberglass, the Tress Suspension Lamp is lacquered to give it a rich finish. It even features what appears to be stitches along its perimeter, giving it a deceptively leather-like look. A table and [floor lamp option](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horizon-table-light) exists as well. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Fiberglass Lighting:** Fiberglass as a material for lighting fixtures offers a unique opportunity for companies to create innovative designs that are both durable and aesthetically pleasing. - **Minimalist Chic:** Designers can offer products that balance contemporary minimalism with quirky individuality, creating functional, yet stylish lighting fixtures. - **Multifunctional Lamps:** By offering table and floor lamp options in addition to the traditional suspension lamp, companies can meet the needs of consumers looking for multifunctional lighting solutions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Lighting Manufacturing:** Lighting manufacturers can incorporate composite materials like fiberglass to create trendy designs, which could be lacquered in various hues to add a touch of sophistication. - **Home Decor:** The Tress Suspension Lamp represents an opportunity for home decor companies to improve their product lines with modern and functional lighting fixtures that match contemporary design trends. - **Furniture Retail:** Furniture stores can offer trendy lighting fixtures as part of their product catalog to attract customers looking to incorporate unique, chic designs into their home decor. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bamboo-Inspired Glass Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-forest-glss.md) - [Pasta-Inspired Curvaceous Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neotenic-lamp.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Molten Glass Lighting Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foscarini-1.md) - [Playful Table Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toto-lamp.md) - [Transparent Base Sleek Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapeaux-lamp.md) - [Matte White Dynamic Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2097-chandelier.md) - [Artistic Statement Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toto.md) - [Metal Thread Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nest-lamp.md)
