Designed by Glenn Howells Architects, the treetop walkway was designed using special algorithms that allow for a continuous visual flow of the walkway components while not interfering with trees in a detrimental manner. The walkway was commissioned by the UK's Forestry Commission, which wanted to find a new way to engage with visitors to the Westonbirth Arboretum. Ultimately, this treetop walkway offers visitors a new and unique perspective, allowing them to appreciate their natural surroundings better. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 66% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Treetop Tourism:** Designing treetop walkways for tourists to get a new perspective of the natural surroundings. - **Sustainable Architecture:** Using special algorithms to design structures that allow for a continuous flow while preserving the environment. - **Immersive Experiences:** Creating walkways that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the tree canopy and experience nature in a new way. ### Where This Applies - **Tourism:** The tourism industry can capitalize on the trend of treetop walkways by offering unique and immersive experiences to nature lovers. - **Architecture and Design:** Architects and designers can use sustainable algorithms to create beautiful and structurally sound treetop walkways that preserve the surrounding environment. - **Forestry and Conservation:** Forestry agencies can commission treetop walkways as a way to engage visitors with the natural surroundings in a sustainable and immersive way. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Canyon Viewing Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/72-turns.md) - [Contemporary Conservationist Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sylvascope-treehouse.md) - [Artful Elevated Timber Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/secret-camp.md) - [Red Aluminum Walkway Periscopes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunset-hammock.md) - [Vaulted Structural Telescopic Treehouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistree-home.md) - [Slatted Steel Treehouse Surroundings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sawmill-treehouse.md) - [Elevated Treetop Modern Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buitenverblijf-nest.md) - [Forest-Treetop Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/more-cabin.md) - [Tranquil Treetop Bali Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lost-lindenberg.md)
