# Treetop Castles The Duke of Northumberland's Swanky Forest Mansion By Rachel | Published 2009-06-29 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treehouse-mansion-duke-of-northumberland References: [dornob](http://dornob.com/wooden-wonderland-massive-lofted-treehouse-design/) & [alnwickgarden](http://www.alnwickgarden.com/) Some treehouses go beyond basic one-room buildings built by your dad. Some are restaurants, some are hotels and some are mansions. This is a mansion commissioned by the [Duke of Northumberland](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kipp-north-carolina-public-schools) and the Alnwick Gardens. The tree mansion for the Duke of Northumberland has a rather haphazard look to it, and frankly looks haunted. The house is relatively new, and it's impressive for its size alone. The treehouse is accessed by a [rope bridge](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/91-cedar-house) and is supported by intertwined logs. If I knew my tree house would be this swanky, I’d go live in one right now! Check out the tree mansion in the gallery above. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 83% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Swanky Tree Mansions:** Exploring the trend of high-end forest dwellings as a luxurious alternative to traditional homes. - **Tree-based Hospitality:** The trend of hotels, restaurants, and other hospitality properties incorporating treehouses as unique and captivating accommodations. - **Natural Architecture:** The trend of integrating natural materials and design elements into contemporary architectural projects, such as the use of logs and trees as foundational supports. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Hospitality:** Opportunities exist for hotels and restaurants to offer treehouse accommodations to stand out from competitors and create a unique and memorable guest experience. - **Luxury Real Estate:** The creation of high-end treehouses as a form of real estate investment and high-end alternative to traditional homes and estates. - **Architecture and Design:** Architects and designers can embrace natural elements and materials in their projects to incorporate and enhance sustainable, eco-friendly design practices. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Vaulted Structural Telescopic Treehouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistree-home.md) - [Contemporary Conservationist Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sylvascope-treehouse.md) - [Modern Rounded Treehouse Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burl-treehouse.md) - [Cartoonish Tubular Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tubular-treehouse.md) - [Nature-Immersive Tranquil Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treehouse-villas.md) - [Artful Elevated Timber Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/secret-camp.md) - [Suspended Off-Grid Treetop Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-dokka.md) - [Weatherized Visual Wooden Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hundred-acre-wood.md) - [Tree-Surrounded Mud-Walled Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/winterfell.md)
