# Egg-Shaped Timber Aviaries The Tree Ring Birdhouse is a Formal Blend of Organic Inspirations By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-ring-birdhouse References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/tree-ring-birdhouse-jarrod-lim-hinika/tree-ring-birdhouse-jarrod-lim-hinika-1/) & [hinika](http://www.hinika.com/home.php?page=det_prod&id_prod=14) Looking at the Tree Ring Birdhouse, a few formal references will become immediately apparent. The winsome [wooden aviary](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dwellings-project) seems to take the shape of an egg -- an appropriate choice for making this [egg-laying species](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nesting-plan-vi-call-duck) feel warm and welcome. However, this Hinika bird house might also remind you of the look of a beehive, enabling it to blend in naturally with its arboreal setting. It complements surrounding branches and twigs and exudes a simple organic charm when it's recognized behind the foliage. Layers of [oval-cut wooden components](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hayashi-cabinet) make up the Tree Ring Birdhouse to reinforce this natural aesthetic. The surface that Jarrod Lim has created comes to mimic that of an arboreal cross-section and the patterns of bark that surround knots in trunks. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.6/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 19% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Organic Birdhouses:** A trend of creating birdhouses that blend in and complement their natural surroundings, imitating organic shapes and textures. - **Eco-friendly Design:** A trend of designing products made from sustainable materials that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. - **Nature-inspired Architecture:** A trend of incorporating natural elements and shapes into building design to create a harmonious connection with the environment. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home and Garden:** The home and garden industry can create products like birdhouses that cater to customers who value sustainable design and a connection to nature. - **Architecture and Design:** The architecture and design industry can adapt by incorporating more organic shapes and materials in their designs, creating structures that blend in seamlessly with the environment. - **Eco-tourism:** The eco-tourism industry can attract environmentally conscious tourists by offering accommodations and activities that promote a sustainable, nature-based experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Educational Linoleum Birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elvi-birdhouse.md) - [Home Exterior Nesting Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/numbird.md) - [Birdhouse-Integrated Address Signs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/our-common-house.md) - [Nature-Shared A-Frame Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kumiki-architects.md) - [Greenery-Surrounding Lush Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nest-house-1.md) - [Wooden Minimal Nesting Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nesting-boxes.md) - [Modern Rounded Treehouse Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burl-treehouse.md) - [Birdhouse-Resembling Narrow Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-birdhouse.md) - [Modernism Birdhouse Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dwellings-project.md)
