# Arboreal Desktop Lights The Tree of Life Lamp is Earthy and Simplistic By Michael Hines | Published 2012-02-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-of-life-lamp References: [tuvie](http://www.tuvie.com/tree-of-life-led-desk-lamp-by-victor-vetterlein/) & [victorvetterlein](http://victorvetterlein.com/) The Tree of Life Lamp is the latest [nature-inspired illuminator](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lapso) from designer Victor Vetterlein. This [desk lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ovo-lamp) is bendable and was created in the image of a budding [fruit tree](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/banana-lamp). The lamp uses a fusion of copper and rubber to be both soft and flexible. Vetterlein recently designed a lamp inspired by wet grass, so this lamp's unique source of inspiration shouldn't come as too much of a shock. The lamp has a rubber coating on the exterior to make it soft and a copper skeletal system to make it pliable. The lamp has five LED lights or buds. The design of the Tree of Life Lamp is a natural design in its simplest and purest form. Vetterlein is quietly creating an entire collection of flora lamps that are both functional and eye-catching. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 35% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Nature-inspired Lighting:** Opportunity to create more lighting designs that take inspiration from nature. - **Flexible Desk Lamps:** Opportunity to create desk lamps with pliable materials that allow users to adjust the shape. - **Minimalistic Design:** Opportunity to create more lamps with natural, simplistic and pure design elements. ### Who This Affects Most - **Lighting Design:** Lighting designers can innovate new designs approaching nature-inspired themes. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can integrate flexible lamps into desk designs. - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies can take advantage of minimalistic designs in their product line. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Zen Workstation Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bonsai-desk-lamp.md) - [Plant-Inspired Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/palmetto-lamp.md) - [Plant-Based Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plantbased-lamp.md) - [Naturalistic Biophilic Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bioo-lamp.md) - [Plant Pod-Inspired Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nature-inspired-pendant-light.md) - [Money Plant-Inspired Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pilea-lamp.md) - [Serene Wooden Dynamic Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sleepy-wood.md) - [Wooden Sustainable Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woodo.md) - [Sculpted Wooden Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sleepy-wood-desk-lamp.md)
