# Ground Level Tree Houses The 6a Architects Tree House Design Brings the Tradition to the Ground By Eric Westcott | Published 2014-03-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-house-designs References: [ilikearchitecture.net](http://www.ilikearchitecture.net/2014/03/tree-house-6a-architects/) & [6a](http://www.6a.co.uk/) The [traditional tree house design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burl-treehouse) lifts people off the ground to live like squirrels. 6a Architects bring the tree house down to earth by building a house around the trees. The aerial views of the house show that the house has been [built around the trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/winterfell) in order to keep from disturbing them. 6a Architects built this house for a woman who found herself wheelchair bound, so having a [house built off the ground](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-the-forest) was out of the question. The rustic appearance of the house provides the perfect nearby escape to the city life. With trees being right up close to the building, you would never know that you are in the city. When all the plants have grown up around the house, it will make for an exotic house that feels as if it were built by Mother Nature. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Ground Level Tree Houses:** Opportunity for creating innovative and accessible tree house designs that can be built on the ground. - **Inclusive Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to design accessible and inclusive spaces for individuals with physical disabilities. - **Urban Tree House Living:** Emerging trend of integrating nature into urban environments by building houses around trees. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Architecture firms can capitalize on the demand for ground-level tree houses and inclusive design to create unique and accessible living spaces. - **Green Building:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to develop sustainable building techniques that incorporate natural elements like trees into urban designs. - **Tourism and Hospitality:** Potential for creating unique and immersive tree house accommodations for eco-tourism destinations and nature resorts. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tree-Surrounding Mass-Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-courtyard-house.md) - [Elevated Treetop Modern Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buitenverblijf-nest.md) - [Repurposed Wooden Shoreside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-house-by-the-lake.md) - [Contemporary Conservationist Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sylvascope-treehouse.md) - [Modern Rounded Treehouse Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burl-treehouse.md) - [Apple Tree-Surrounding Glass Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acdf.md) - [Nature-Immersive Tranquil Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treehouse-villas.md) - [Vaulted Structural Telescopic Treehouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistree-home.md) - [Natural Landscape-Surrounding Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/under-the-rain-trees.md)
