# Stick-Extended Fixtures The Traveling Light is Angled Outwards to Dangle as Desired By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-12-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/traveling-light References: [behance.net](https://www.behance.net/gallery/TRAVELING-LIGHT/9471479) The Traveling Light embodies a simple concept and a straightforward design that allows you to install it quickly and easily, just about anywhere in your home. The quirky fixture has qualities of a [pendant lamp and a wall lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impulse-wall-light), yet it's really something quite different and special. Jean-Charles Amey shows you what comes with the Traveling Light kit, having laid out a [long wooden stick](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp), a string, some hooks and nails, a big lightbulb, a [lampshade and a cable](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sorpresa). The setup requires you to choose a wall area within proximity to an electrical outlet, then to fix the thin post to its base and the drywall with the provided hardware. Run the Traveling Light's cord along the stick and tie that stick to the wall to make an illuminator that hangs towards the middle of the room. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.1/10 - Popularity: 97% | Activity: 78% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Multi-functional Lighting:** Traveling Light fixture combines features of wall lamps and pendant lamps, indicating opportunity for multi-functional lighting designs. - **DIY Lighting Kits:** The Traveling Light kit allows for easy assembly, signaling the potential for more DIY lighting options for consumers. - **Non-traditional Lighting Placement:** The Traveling Light's unique design opens opportunities for more non-traditional lighting placement throughout homes and businesses. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Improvement Retail:** Traveling Light's DIY assembly and unique functionality open new opportunities for home improvement retailers to offer more non-traditional lighting options. - **Interior Design Services:** Multi-functional lighting options like the Traveling Light offer opportunities for interior designers to incorporate unique lighting design elements in their projects. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** The Traveling Light's innovative design indicates potential for lighting manufacturers to create more multi-functional, DIY lighting kits. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mood-Setting Adventurous Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guidelight.md) - [Ultra-Flexible Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anywhereuse-lamp.md) - [Modern Affordable Wall Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poplight-wall-light.md) - [Industrial Contemporary Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shop-light.md) - [Outlet-Equipped Workstation Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/avro-pendant-lamp.md) - [Conical Multifunctional Lamp Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-light.md) - [Elegant Axis-Mounted Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pendulum-lamp.md) - [Modular LED Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ilo-lamp.md) - [Flatpack Lighting Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allen-key-lamp.md)
