The e-tags are roughly the same size as an iPhone 8 and are set to be launched at the Beijing Daxing International Airport as of September 2019. By using the [luggage tags with NFC sensors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luggage-losers), which work like ID cards for suitcases, travelers will have greater peace of mind and a more streamlined travel experience. As the battery-free e-tags have electronic ink screens, they will also be useful for revealing important information such as a barcode and a traveler's flight number. This innovation will help to save millions of baggage tags from needing to be printed—and thrown away—annually in China. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 64% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [World](https://www.trendhunter.com/world) > [Travel](https://www.trendhunter.com/travel) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Nfc-enabled Luggage Tags:** The introduction of NFC-enabled electronic travel luggage tags presents disruptive innovation opportunities in the travel industry by streamlining the check-in process and providing real-time location tracking. - **Battery-free E-tags:** The development of battery-free e-tags with electronic ink screens opens up disruptive innovation opportunities in the transportation industry by reducing waste from printed baggage tags and enhancing traveler convenience. - **NFC Sensors for Suitcases:** The use of NFC sensors as ID cards for suitcases offers disruptive innovation opportunities in the logistics industry by improving luggage management and providing travelers with peace of mind. ### Where This Applies - **Airline Industry:** The airline industry can benefit from the introduction of NFC-enabled baggage tags by improving the overall travel experience, reducing operational costs, and enhancing customer satisfaction. - **Transportation Industry:** The transportation industry can leverage battery-free e-tags with electronic ink screens to improve luggage tracking, reduce waste, and optimize logistical operations. - **Logistics Industry:** The logistics industry can capitalize on the use of NFC sensors for suitcases to streamline baggage management, increase efficiency, and enhance data-driven decision making. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Digital Airline Tags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-bag-tags.md) - [Mini Luggage-Compatible Trackers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airtag.md) - [In-App Baggage-Tracking Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-canada-mobile-app.md) - [Trackable Travel Luggage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tag-smart-collection-by-samsara.md) - [Connected Luggage Tags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knog-scout-travel.md) - [Discreet Trackable Suitcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qantas-x-july.md) - [Trackable Smart Luggage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casesafe.md) - [NFC-Enabled Golden Tags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/golden-tag.md) - [Bluetooth Finder Tags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aircard-pro-and-airnotch-pro.md)
