Scientists have created a see-through Zebrafish to help conduct research on [how cancer spreads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cancer-ai-alliance) inside an organism. The entire fish is see-through, from bones to organs making it possible for the first time to study the disease without dissection.

It was engineered at the Children's Hospital, Boston and has let researchers observe in real time how [melanoma cells spread](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spatial-biology-tool) to the skin from their origin in the abdominal cavity.

**Implications** - FIRST SENTENCE DOES NOT MAKE SENSE.

This is an innovative project that can truly can unbelievable benefits for all mankind. Hopefully these fish will lead to a [greater understanding of how cancer operates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/advanced-genomic-techniques) on the body and that they can make significant strides towards a cure

## Key Themes

### Key Themes Behind This Trend

- **See-through Organisms:** The creation of see-through zebrafish shows opportunities for the development of more transparent animals which can aid in medical research.
- **Real-time Observation:** The see-through zebrafish's ability to allow real-time observation of how melanoma cells spread to the skin, shows opportunities for creating other organisms that can be used in medical research to allow real-time observation of other diseases.
- **Non-invasive Medical Research:** The see-through zebrafish provides a non-invasive way of studying diseases, which shows opportunities for developing more animals that can be used in non-invasive medical research.

### Where This Applies

- **Medical Research:** The see-through zebrafish offers opportunities for the medical industry to develop new ways to study and find cures for diseases.
- **Pharmaceuticals:** The see-through zebrafish can be used by the pharmaceutical industry to develop new drugs for diseases that were previously difficult to study using traditional methods.
- **Animal Research:** The see-through zebrafish is an opportunity for the animal research industry to advance their scientific knowledge on diseases while reducing the need for dissection and other invasive methods.
