# Texting Safety Apps 'Transparent Texting' is an App to Help You Text and Walk Collision-Free By Megan Facciuolo | Published 2014-04-01 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transparent-texting References: [walyou](http://walyou.com/apple-transparent-texting/) & [itunes.apple](https://itunes.apple.com/ca/genre/ios/id36?mt=8) 'Transparent Texting' will help you avoid collisions while on your phone. You have probably been bumped into by a pedestrian on their phone or you have been in the culprit's position yourself. When this app is released, you will no-longer have to worry about being put in these compromising and embarrassing positions. [Apple](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/communication-safety) just filed for a patent for the technology, which in reality isn't even that complex -- I'm surprised it wasn't thought of sooner. The technology would make the background of the iMessage app a live video feed from the smartphone’s camera. Thus, you can text and still see what is coming up ahead of you. While this sounds like an excellent, tragedy-avoiding concept, one can't help but wonder how much battery this would use up. Then again, there will probably be an app for that problem too. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 26% | Activity: 40% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Texting Safety Apps:** The trend of safety apps is expected to grow as more people prioritize their safety while using their phone in public spaces. - **Transparent Texting:** The trend of augmented reality in messaging apps opens up opportunities for more innovative features, such as transparent texting. - **Live Video Feed:** The trend of live video feed technology in apps has the potential to improve safety in various industries beyond messaging, such as transportation or construction. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Mobile App Development:** Mobile app developers can create innovative safety features within messaging apps to cater to users' needs and prevent accidents. - **Telecommunications:** Telecommunications companies can collaborate with app developers to integrate their live video feed technology into messaging or safety apps for increased safety precautions. - **Health and Safety:** Industries focused on health and safety, such as insurance or construction, can implement live video feed technology in their safety protocols to prevent accidents and decrease liability. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Automated Message Censoring Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/communication-safety.md) - [Eye-Tracking Privacy Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/privacy-apps.md) - [Ocular Disease-Detecting Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clearly-vision.md) - [Personal Safety Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/just-n-case.md) - [Low-Tech Smartphone Interface Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blank-spaces-app.md) - [Anti-Stalking App Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tile.md) - [Child-Targeted Starter Smartphone Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/screenable-app.md) - [Smartphone-Concealing Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gatbook.md) - [AI-Powered Eyewear Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lucyd-app.md)
