# Removable Edged Adhesives Transparent Tape's Modification Makes it Easy to Peel the Stuff Off By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transparent-tape References: [red-dot.sg](http://www.red-dot.sg/en/online-exhibition/concept/?code=976&y=2013&c=11&a=0) & [nanoin.cn](http://www.nanoin.cn/) The Transparent Tape concept would prove particularly handy for those times when you need an adhesive as a temporary solution. A team from NANOIN Design came up with a [roll of tape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pressure-sensitive-labels) that has a [glue-free edge](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thick-rubberized-paste), enabling you to easily access the strips and pull them up from the sides. This proposal won Gao Fenglin, Zhou Buyi and Huang Xiaofei a 2013 Red Dot Design Award for its simple ingenuity. Black borders on the holder suggest the width of the adhesive-free areas and invite you to flick them back in order to acquire a segment. Because the Transparent Tape still does appear to be [see-through from side to side](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maria-olhovnikova), you can apply it to anything that requires sticking together in a subtle way. Should you need to detach it, that's effortless too. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 26% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Removable Edge Adhesives:** Innovations in materials science, design, and engineering are making it possible to develop adhesives with removable edges, generating new opportunities for reusable products and reducing waste. - **Temporary Solutions:** With increasing demand for temporary solutions, there are opportunities for companies to develop removable adhesive products that cater to consumers who want to avoid using potentially harmful permanent adhesives. - **Sustainable Packaging:** The development of removable edge adhesive products could drive innovation in sustainable packaging by allowing for recycled and reusable packaging options. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Office Supplies:** Companies in the office supplies industry can benefit from developing and marketing removable edge adhesive products, catering to consumers in need of temporary solutions for their office supplies. - **Packaging:** As demand for sustainable packaging increases, the packaging industry can develop new products with removable edge adhesives to cater to consumers in search of more eco-friendly and reusable options. - **Home Organization:** The development of removable edge adhesive products can benefit the home organization industry by providing consumers with eco-friendly options for organizing and decorating their homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Decorative Removable Paints](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glasst.md) - [Clamping Stationery Dispensers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peleg-design-clamptape.md) - [Residue-Removing Labels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/opticut-washoff.md) - [Sleek Rounded Measuring Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enso-tape.md) - [Tape Crafting Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nano-tape.md) - [Removable Wall Paints](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unpaint.md) - [Sustainable Eraser Packaging](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maped.md) - [Versatile Home Insulation Tapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seal-draft-and-insulation.md) - [Tape Measurable Time Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/setime-clock.md)
