TRANS by Kohei Nawa, an artist born in Osaka, Japan, is a sculpture series that appears to have been tampered with in one way or another. Although the shape takes on the familiar form of a human being, the details are lacking. Instead of a recognizable face, hands and more, the sculptures have been warped and morphed into abstract versions of [classic porcelain figurines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shiyuan-xu).

Currently showing at the Arario Gallery Cheonan in Korea, and set to debut in his hometown later this month, TRANS by Kohei Nawa was created using a computer and scanner. Each sculpture began with a [3D scanning](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arnardo-collection) of a person or an object. From there a computer technique known as [texture mapping](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/texture-ware) was applied. Nawa says, "The completed form of the model with fluid threedimensional surface is like a form that is parallel with this world, or a form which any subject or being can have."
