# Floors Inspired by Traffic Flow Dimension Laminate By Pearl | Published 2008-08-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/traffic-flow-designed-flooring-dimension References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/index.php/2008/07/30/flooring-follows-the-flow/) Dimension flooring is a graphically designed flooring determined not by a craftsman's creativity, but by the pattern of traffic flow in a particular living space. Alistair Bramley came up with this concept approach whereby [laminate flooring design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metropolitan-floors) can be tailored not just for the people who use the space, but also how they do so. Video recordings are made to determine the traffic flow which is then processed to generate an [abstract pattern](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/discorectangle). The flowing design can then be printed and assembled. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Traffic Flow-inspired Designs:** Opportunity for designers to create graphically designed products based on the flow of traffic in a space. - **Tailored Laminate Flooring:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to customize laminate flooring based on how people use a specific space. - **Abstract Pattern Generation:** Innovative approach to generating abstract patterns for various products using data from video recordings of traffic flow. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can utilize traffic flow patterns to create visually appealing and customized spaces. - **Flooring:** Flooring manufacturers can explore new possibilities by offering tailored laminate flooring options based on traffic patterns. - **Graphic Design:** Graphic designers can leverage abstract pattern generation techniques for creating unique designs inspired by traffic flow. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Custom Print Flooring](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flotex.md) - [Patterned Carpet Tiles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contour-carpet-tile.md) - [Versatile Remolded Linoleum Tiles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flaxwood.md) - [Optical Illusion Carpets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-3d-carpet.md) - [Textural Wallcovering Technologies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallcovering-technology.md) - [Textured Porcelain Tile Ranges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lexicon-tile.md) - [Dimensional Linear Acoustic Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lanes-acoustic-system.md) - [Dimensional Linear Texture Finishes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silver-stream-stratos-finish.md) - [Patterned Retro Flooring](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-newstalgia.md)
